Favourite community objects

#1

Hey guys,
i was just getting lost in the object list for the last 2 hours... so much amazing stuff! who in here runs this site btw? http://www.privatepublic.de/public/community-objectlist.html edit - oh it's @cpwitz great job man!

anyways i was wondering what everybody's favourite objects are, in day to day use. which oscillators, wavetable stuff, filters, distortion, utilities... etc. it's almost overwhelming to try and even compare all the sawtooth oscillators in there :joy:

Name your top 3 and a reason why!

Overwhelming Possibilities

Ah that's easy, my fave object is sss/dyn/axoComp which is a special compressor Remco custom made for me, and even named after me

Built upon what was already a banging compressor to start with, at my request he added custom curve control to the attack and release. It means you can dial-in logarithmic, linear, inverse logarithmic, or anything inbetween, independently for both the attack and release of the compressor, giving more punch, and a lot of control over the character of the compressor as a whole.

Personally I've spent an embarrasing amount of time putting my vinyl collection through it, and have really enjoyed doing so, it's a great way to master compression technique and can be very addictive!

Not to blow my own horn, but if you are working with external midi, triggered from Axoloti, this is a very nice object:

Some of my favourites at the moment are:

  1. tiar/mux/smux4_1 and similiar "smux" objects - super cool to get smooth transitions between (more than two) otherwise seperated signals. I've got a nice patch where I use two of these with four (pseudo-?) physical modelling braids-oscillators as inputs.

  2. sss/math/expCurveK - I like to put envelopes into this so I can live tweak their snappiness, something not many synths do. There's also an audio rate version (expCurveA) which can do some interesting waveshaping.

  3. sss/delay/loop4 - I somehow didn't get rbrts looper objects and this one just worked. It gave me a four track looper with functioning MIDI-sync, so I could sell my overpriced Pigtronix looper pedal.

The obvious subjects for me,

tiar/HW/OLED128x64nice:

just finishing up my small enclosure, 3 encoders, 7 pots, a few switches, and it really opens it up, and makes my half assed attempt at an enclosure "proper"

sss/delay/loop4:

as above with borututuforte, just a really nice implementation of a 4way looper, does the things you need in a really streamlined way

sss/delay/Factotum:

The mystery box, someone on the forum described it as an instrument that has to be learned, I have a pair that can be linked in series or in parallel [ a sorta mock cocoquantus] and can spend hours lost in tweaking.

most of my patches end up going into a

TSG/fx/tapedelay and an fx/lmnts/reverb for colour and space, there a tons more, trying to stay concise but the amazing thing, as someone who hasn't begun coding, is there is always more to find.....I'd love a few filter recommendations, tried a few of tiar and SSS implementations, there really is lots to explore

+1 for factotum, the more I play with it the more I like it. Working on a patch with a 6 voice polyphonic factotum, each voice with slightly offset pitch/stretch settings. It's sounding great! (Almost finished, will upload soon).

A bit more 'bread and butter' but I love rbrt's table and midi/launchpad objects. So useful. I mainly use them for sequencers and storing settings/presets. They get used on every patch.

And lmnts/reverb. It's on almost every patch. I really need to explore other reverbs but I found lmnts early on and use it without thinking now!

#7

Tiar has an FDN reverb, H8 that's lovely and TSG has TSG/fx/reverb which is lovely too but lmnts seems to be able to squeeze in when the others can't

good calls gugys, keep them coming.
away from my axo computer but of the top of my head 3 objects i like and use a lot and was surprised by the quality are TSGs tape delay, @SirSickSik's OLED objects and i think its called "sat ur hate"? one of the multiple times modded saturation/drive objects.

#9

OLED objects? Can't even remember trying as I've never had an OLED

sorry i keep mixing up you and @SmashedTransistors i dont know why. i do use a ton of SSS stuff of course like evryobdy...
