Don't get me wrong I think Axo is great but that it could be improved

I have looked at some of the alternatives you suggest here and think Axo is perhaps the best value and most flexible solution available.

Why could it not be possible to make different products aimed at different markets at some time in the future?

I agree about pure data, If I was going to do that sort of thing on a computer I'd just do it in C/C++, the only hard part would be accessing the hardware but SDL can probably do that reasonable easily, I know it has audio capability, dunno about MIDI.

I guess some of my criticisms and minor frustrations with Axoloti come from it being so close to exactly what I had in mind myself apart from a few niggling details, you know that so close but not quite feeling you get about things that could be so great but just miss the mark by a bit? that's how I feel about Axo.

Just because I criticise it and offer suggestions for improvements and future developments doesn't mean I don't like it, in fact the opposite is true, as good as it is, it can be better and I want to help make it better.

Does that clarify things a bit?

Pardon? what are you talking about, I'm not offended , just expressing my opinion, if that's ok by you?

Of course you are right about DACs and software and no I haven't done a side by side comparison but I'm not paying that much to try.

Organelle may suit your needs but axo suits mine more despite it's limitations, i think. It seems more flexible, much cheaper and the software is ready to go and easy to learn so you get results sooner. It not being in an enclosure also enables it to be used in many different ways where the knobs and buttons on the organelle are not needed.

researching about what kind of oled display the organelle has, I ended up here..
I have both Organelle and Axoloti.
And I love both..
They are very different though..
I've using puredata for ages and discovering how immediate Axoloti is to put together a great sounding synth was very refreshing.. But then there is the sram limit which gives Axoloti it's place.. IT's awesome for doing a dedicated instrument ("better" than puredata / organelle somehow) but it lacks when you want to do a more complex thing , multi timbral / multi FX / sequencer, with complex interface, etc.. And that's where Organelle shines.. Waay more expensive than a raspberry with a shield, yess.. but also way more immediate.
Here I leave you with a Jam using both machines.
Greetings.

Nice little jam and pretty nice patch on Axoloti.
I'm looking forward the Organelle since years now, but I still suck in Pd.
During this quarantine time I started to learn hard MaxMSP, so maybe I'll be able to translate what I learned to Pd, because I guess it's really similar.
Your video is another reason to think about buying an Organelle.
Did you see the new Organelle M ?
I'm a bit sad that it's bigger because of the speaker, cause I never use synth builtin speakers. And I prefer the tiny things when it's possible.

HI @s8jfou I think exactly the same as you.. So I got a "cheap" organelle 1 from someone that was getting rid of it in order to get an M .
For what I heard from Him, He hasn't felt much difference yet..

Also I prefeer ARch linux and the older processor compared with the raspberry module..
this Organelle performs way better and way more stable compared with a raspi 3 with pi-sound.. Once I started to change stuff I started to get dropouts, data corruption, etc etc. They really did a great job at making the organelle veery reliable ..
Pd is very simmilar to Max as they were made by the same person (that currently just works on pd,..)
I can reccomend you this online manual: http://write.flossmanuals.net/pure-data/introduction2/
and the ANdy farnell book , it's really incredible, not just for pd. but also.. He makes the stuff in pd.....
Greetings!
