Anyone planning to make and sell an enclosure?

#184

Hi all,

Been lurking for a while and picking up useful tips to get Axoloti up and running. Thanks everyone.

I've gone with a sideways mounted enclosure using some stuff called PolyConstructo that I found in a charity shop and two Ikea letters that I found in the street. The front face was a thin piece of wood that I found in a Twinings tea caddy and drilled holes into.

Next stage: putting some pots onto this guy.

Does look like it's massive and standing on the floor to anyone else?

I made this today. 2mm acrylic glass plates on top & bottom. M3 x 30mm screws just fit. The spacers are cut to fit from a brass metal tube with a pipe cutter. Added rubber feet to prevent the little critter from slipping around on the table.

It's not really a "case" since the sides are open. Still, should prevent the PCB from accidental short-circuiting and such. Maybe until I get something printed.

wanna sell some? :grinning:

My semi-temporary box with knobs, works great tough! (and it's food safe)

Downloaded the enclosure files.
Its weird, but if I export the FPD files posted by Mike The Man, and open it in Inkscape its different, compared to the files posted by Jan.
Used the hole cutouts from Jan's design and it seems small. (1-1 print, it should be OK, cause the overall size of the panel is correct, but the holes are smaller.)
What am I doing wrong?

It may be the Inkscape DPI issue. Inkscape runs at 90DPI where most other programs are 72DPI hence you end up with around a 25% size difference.

Printed @janvantomme's .stl files at the local library, they worked great, thanks! (Total cost: €1,60)

Very nice job by @wishniak - many thanks!

Mhmm, yummy sounds
I think I'll copy that; it sits right with my budget

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to share this project with you. It's still just an empty shell  but I hope I'll finish it soon. The plan is to have simple fx for bass guitar (distortion) and vocal (delay and lo-fi) and also a sampler. And maybe a simple synth (hence the "keyboard"). Display (blue graphic OLED), touchpad (taken from Korg NanoPad) and "keyboard" are (will be) handled by arduino pro mini. Few LEDs are still missing.

Well, this is why you double check all the details.

Thank you very much! I ordered a print through 3dhubs.com and I am very curious!

#198

?? Can you explain what happened there? Has the core board changed size?

#199

Ive 4 production boards, and 1 (late) prototype board, and they all fitted into the cases I had laser cut from @janvantomme design.

I'll be honest there is something very odd about @ZZ_ picture, e.g. the slots you see on the front are 'wrong' they appear to be 'inverted'. Id guess, either he has edited the design, and something has gone wrong whilst editing and/or a manufacturing issue.

I was asked by Ponoko to go into the design and change the stroke width. In changing that in Illustrator, something must have gone wrong.

Thought I'd share my very low budget / low tech casing. From an old cellphone box, hence the name: Axo-phone. Just a lot of sawing, filing and drilling, no lasers or printers involved  All gpio's are used. All components from chinese sites, approx €10 total cost. Hope you like it.

I ended up finding the perfect temporary case at the local Salvies for 2 bucks.
This will work well until I can get a bigger enclosure and controls added.

Has anyone used RazorLab in the UK to cut the acrylic parts for an enclosure? If so, would you be prepared to letme have a copy of the SVG files you uploaded to save me making a mistake with scaling, line widths etc.? I have tried working with the files at gighub, but colurs and lines need changing before RazorLab will accept them and im not sure of what i am doing.

Thanks
Chris
