Wooden enclosure/case

#1

Hi,

I have been busy building a controller and enclosure form my last Axoloti Core. The enclosure is made from oak wood panels joined by 'box joints'. I used to be quite busy in woodworking and had some 'scrap' panels laying around. They used to be assembled to make 'coffee pouring stands' that I used to sell.
I thought they would make a nice enclosure for my latest Axo project (I am planning to make a short presentation video in the near future):

I have some sets of unassembled panels laying around. The approximate dimensions are 15cm/30cm/18cm. I also have a few sets laying with following dimensions: 15/40/18 and 15/50/18. Not exactly sure but maybe they could fit Eurorack or other modular modules. I am willing to sell them if there would be any interest. I can modify them to your needs if wanted. Also aluminium sandwich front/back panels can be discussed.

=> If there would be interest out there please contact me via PM.

Anyone planning to make and sell an enclosure?

Very nice, surely an instrument you won't get bored of playing for years.

Looks great! As I don't see any screws: what's used to keep the Axoloti and the front panel in place?

Beautiful case!

In the first two pictures, it looks like the front panel is sloping. Is that in fact the case or is it an optical illusion? The rest of the pictures don't give that impression.

Thanks! I enjoy the instrument a lot indeed!

Thanks! The axoloti is fixed to a wooden panel that spans the full width of the enclosure and is glued to the sides.. the backplate is screwed from the inside. The frontplare rests on 4 small wooden strips glued to the enclosure. I plan on fixing the frontplate with 4 small screws, but for the moment it is very convenient that I can easily turn the frontplate towards me to open it up..

Hi Ricard,
The frontplate is indeed sloped. It is not an illusion.
I have cut the panels before glueing them together. I like the way it is facing me, rather then standing straight up.
If somebody would like an enclosure I can saw it up ofcourse.

very beautiful project, congratulations. reminds me of love hultens stuff - did he ever post on here? i know he used axoloti for some projects...

Thanks @weasel79 for the kind words. I must say I find Love Hultens work otherworldly, very inspiring.
He used Axoloti for some projects indeed, did not notice him posting here though.. or he was in disguise

Some people asked for the in/out specifications of this build. This image shows where I connected the 'shift registers' and 'multiplexers' on the axo. I hope it can help some of you out there ...

have fun!
