can someone please explain? thanks...
What is the difference between mix and mix sq?
From just looking at them I think it is only the scaling of the values that is different.
On the mix when setting is 32 = 0.5... On mix sq it is only 0.25. But what a square gain scale really is(from the description) Johannes probably knows.... I am not sure about it. And couldnt find anything form googling...
The parameters have a different "taper" (how the position relates to the level).
Square scaling is more usable for audio level than linear scaling.
Linear scaling for a level control has little (only 6dB) effect in the top half of the parameter.
Square scaling doubles that to 12dB of attenuation in the top half.
It's not log scale - that would be the same knob travel for a certain number of decibels, but also on mixer desk faders you will see that the number of decibels per centimeter increase near the bottom. Square taper has similar properties.
