Simple project-cool purpose - Food for Talkbox!

#1

I have been really enjoying my Axo for learning syntheses and effects, etc.My next little project is to make a standalone talk-box carrier.

I have a heil talkbox and it needs a source to feed the tube. I used one of my synths in the past but now I think it would be cool to have a dedicated box just for the Heil. To boost the signal I am using a smokey amp (smokeyamps.com). I am going thru the osc/saw's and testing to see which I prefer. I'd like to use my launchpad mini instead of a standard keyboard but I am still fumbling around with how to get it to play all the notes.

If anyone is interested, I'll post a finished (or in progress) video.

Yes, please post a video and explain what's going on. It sounds pretty interesting!

Great @flybry1405,
Very interested to have a demo with the heil talk box !!

I've got a little Rocktron Banshee but i didn't tried it yet with the axo.
Talk boxe drivers tend to saturate the sound.
So I think that PWM square waves (and variants) can be great input signals for them as they are saturation proof (ie change in the pulse width will affect the tone even after saturation).

Cool! So a viddy is in order!

I have some decent sounds (and will also audition the pwm square wave @SmashedTransistors). My next item is based on the launchpad mini being played chromatically or like a 'Push' in note mode. From there I will make a few vid clips. Stay tuned folks....

The Heil Talk Box is such a powerful talk box !

The Banshee is much less powerful but i had fun with this patch:
library/community/tiar/TalkBoxDrivers/TalkBoxDriver1.axp

I'm quite curious to listen to the Heil Talk Box fed by the axo !

I shot a vid but it didnt come out good. I'll shoot again tonight...

Man, it only take a simple video to show how out of practice I am on the TB.

#8

...as promised....

Pardon my lousy talkbox skills! More practice is in order.

Great video, it sounds really good !!
The sound you get reminds me of Stevie Wonder

Thanks S.T. - I actually use your tb patch at first. I dig how it sounds robotic and kinda industrial. I was going for more of a classic zapp/r. troutman type sound so I did the saw thingy but I used most of the modules from your patch, so thanks!
