SD card and sensel morph

#1

I imagine what I'm trying to do is quite simple, though I cant do it so...

Im trying to get two patches loaded onto my recently formatted but never before used sd card, which I intend to programm a midi CC patch change to switch between the two patches so I can play the axoloti patches with my sensel morph, without having to use a computer.

The current issue Im having is that if I set patch to upload to sdcard at startup, or have the sd card inserted at all, it disables the morph - if I restart without the card in I can access a patch in flash but with the card inserted Im getting neither morph or patch loaded. What am I missing?

#2

So if I remove the start.bin file it doesnt knock the morph out, though no patch loads from the card... it wasn't anyway. Is there a way to achieve what I want? ie morph connected with a patch loaded from sd card and live?

#3

Did you format the card with the util/format object from that patcher app?
Nothing else comes to mind, it works for me

#4

I did - formatted fine, can see files in the window etc... It will definitely be something simple - I'm rubbish at all this! Do I need to put something in the SD card enabling a class compliant mpe device or something like that? Or a setting to make the patch live?

#5

There is a couple of ways to change patches, Midi program change, using the two small Axoloti buttons...
a search on this community always a good starting point

#6

Yes, I've searched and found thanks, though the issue I have before I can get to that is that loading from the SD card knocks off connection to the morph.

Edit: And by that I means Inc an SD card in the axo on boot disconnects the morph.

#7

ummm, what SD you're using? what patch is first loaded? can you tried with another controller? other SD card?

#8

Samsung thingy, formatted with axo control block thing. I could try with my linnstrument too... Even when I unplugged and replugged the sensel it still didn't appear to have a patch loaded. All fine without the SD in - plays from the flash memory without issue.

#9

more info... size, speed; there is a post about SD cards...
Do a couple of change/swaps, (ohh LS!!) with perseverance you'll get there

#10

Card is a 32gb sdxc uhs-i card, 80mb read, 20mb write.

Ill have a look for the thread on cards as 32gb is overkill for my needs anyway...

#11

I've ordered a slightly quicker sdhc I'll try...

#12

Could it be something to do with the filename? I'm not familiar with 8.3 but I'm pretty certain I didn't save the patch to the card in 8.3.

#13

Steps forward...

I've got it loading a patch and keeping the morph connected - I can now load a patch in flash and change it by enterring the card. Next step is patch changng, which I've begun but so far failed - as a start point Im trying to use the buttons on the axo to switch patches... more trying/searching later...

#14

I should have also asked about what version of Axoloti firmaware/Axoloti patcher you're using?

#15

Good question... a very old one it seems!

#16

no worries... Im on "old" one as well, I did try 2.0... not there yet.

#17

Updating now, or at least trying to - nothing seems particularly easy in axoloti. Its a great device but getting it where you want is more a PITA than I'm used to or expected.

#18

you don't have to

takes some getting used to; but this forum and users can help.
This post is getting long but maybe it's just a case of some planning ahead:
* patch change
* what "produces" the change
* if using USB MIDI - patches have to address this

Just a few ideas from top of my head...

At this point I'm not sure I have the right firmware in my axoloti core? It's showing as:
Authentic Axoloti Core
Firmware version: 1.0.0.1
Software wise I'm: Axoloti version : 1.0.12-2-0-g7975cc87 build time : 29/11/2018 14:38:54 CET
I'm perhaps wrongly assuming the versions should match?

Meanwhile I can change patches and presets, but am yet to figure out controller objects. I've things to try but I'm partway down a frustrating rabbit hole... it's quite the hackaround. I assumed it was my rubbish computer skills but am reassured by someone who has the skills that for the most part it's not elegant.

OK, so I think I have the right firmware, back to it...
