Reactive Visuals

#1

Second part if my "is is possible" query:

I saw an oscilliscope video in the press release using axoloti but have been unable to find more info....due to weak investigative skills I`m sure...

My question is, are there indeed reactive visual capabilties in axoloti? Related queries don´t yield much fruit in the search results.

Thanks in advance

yes... (patch is included in software)

I think its done by sending audio signals to an oscilloscope, something like audio left drives X and audio right drives Y.
Its an art form in itself, google oscilloscope art (though I'm sure there is a better name for it :))

EDIT: check this out if you've not seen it before...

Awesome, cheers...so it would seem that the patch is modifiable then? Could one use it to manipulate .Jpg files etc? Thanks again....you are right, in any case it is worth the purchase.

jpg files?
oscilloscope graphics are created by using mathematical formulae to drive the x/y working on the principle the scope keep the trace for a period of time..... kind of like drawing with an etch a sketch (well one that automatically removes the oldest part of your etch)
the above video explains its pretty well.

Technically it would be possible to make a realtime visuals box, but this would require a lot of custom objects/firmware. So if you have a few months and the programming skills, you might be able to pull it of.

There are some people in the demoscene that have used boards with the same chip as Axoloti to do visuals.

I should have been more specific(again haha). I am aware that the visuals are generated and such....i was just wondering if the patch could be modified to process .jpg files in real time....link the volume of a track to the gain scale of the image etc.. or if the patch is not capable, i would like to know if axolotti is.

I ask because in pd/gem you can patch reactive visuals and/or process image files...

Thanks a lot for the info, now that I´m home I can examine it more deeply

Cheers for the response and info man

You could use Axoloti to send some MIDI (and sound) out to PD/Processing/ or any app that can respond to it to generate visuals.

I usually stick to computers and custom software to do generative visuals.
