I was looking at using my Axoloti as a MIDI utility together with my iPad, plugged in via the USB device port. I'd prefer to use an external 12V PSU for powering the Axo, does the device port stop drawing current when another supply is provided?

Hmm.. When using a USB hub to connect the Axoloti and a cheap usb headphone amp to my iPad, the iPad claims that the unit is drawing too much current, even though I'm supplying the Axo from the barrel jack.
The iPad seems to do fine when one of the two is connected, but not with both of them.
Axoloti will stop drawing power from the device power when there is power on the DC barrel socket.
BUT Axoloti reports itself to the USB Host as a device that drinks power from the USB bus, even if it gets power from the DC barrel socket.
Maybe feed external power into the USB Hub instead of the Axoloti Core (respecting the power requirements of the USB hub)?
