Power other kit from Axoloti

#1

Hi, my synth design has a teensy, 16 pots (behind 2 4051's), a little oled display (128x64 adafright stylee) and an encoder. Everything will be controller the AxoCore over Midi, not over GPIO.

Is it possible to power all of this from the 5v output from the Axo or would it be better to use a little breakout board and split the power there for both the Axo and the controller gear?

#2

yes, that will be fine

Hmm, well it's failed. If the trellis is connected then over time things start failing. First teh trellis (anything lit goes dim), then the oled display freezes (yet teh Teensy can still send MIDI) and eventually the whole thing fails over 5 mins. If I reboot and light all teh Trellis buttons then it fails quicker, less than a minute.

Time to open it up and do some measurements.

well there is your answer. in your original post you never wrote about the trellis. with all the leds it will draw quite an amount.

#5

Ah true. My design changed after that post. Silly me... Out with the soldering iron then

how are you powering the axoloti? if you power it from the dc-jack with e.g. a 9v supply it is easy enough to add a 5v voltage regulator and power the teensy and maybe the oled from this voltage regulator.

have you tried the trellis without the teensy and oled attached? does it work then?
