Pitch-tracking Guitar Synth

#1

I made a video about a guitar synth I made with axo recently. The patch is a mess (sorry) but it works great, and there's a link to it below if you want to try it or take things from it. Thanks again to community contributors who make amazing objects, otherwise this stuff wouldn't be possible for me.

That's really cool.

I think it would be even cooler if you add an expression pedal, that could control the filter or the envelope times for attack or decay for the filter, to add more controls that you don't have to use your hands for

Thanks! Yeah the idea with this 'Pedal-Bored' video series is to eventually pull all the effects together onto one or two Axolotis controlled by a MIDI floor-board with expression pedal/s. It'll hopefully make for a really weird/unique custom setup.

Also thinking about how to make this polyphonic.......

All sorts of ideas comes up now, hehe

I'm thinking about buying a fishman tripleplay pickup ans sending each string to a different MIDI channel. That would mean polyphony, fast tracking and pitchbend independently for each string. Heavier on DSP though.

I did not analyze the patch fully, but I was thinking it could be possible doing it all on axoloti, using a counter that triggers a new voice every time the threshold is exceeded.

But yeah not sure how the gate stuff works in the patch, have to look into that, so mot sure it will work how I think it will. Probably won't now that I think of it :joy:

I think you could do something with sample/hold along the lines of what you're thinking, but I think you'd sacrifice response and have to play a certain way. A hex pickup going to 3 axos (1 for every 2 strings) would definitely work well though, and would take away the need for a audio-MIDI converter. Pros and cons for each idea I suppose.

just like the other one, absolutely awesome patch and video! please keep them coming!
