Other things like the Axoloti?

#1

I just learned about this community and I'm sad to see that the Axoloti is kinda fading into the past. I'll pick on up if I find one but, in the meantime, are there any other devices/projects similar to this thing? (an API centered around the device and made for making sound, same kind of price range, just the board and connection ports)

I feel a little dirty for post a question like this here, but I'd really like to know if any of y'all who have known the Axoloti for a while have found something else that feels similar.

There’s nothing quite like it, but there are interesting things.
If you really like making little synth gadgets, and know one or more of several programming languages, like c/c++,python, PureData, the electro-smith Daisy system is good.
If you like graphically creating new things which run on iPad or Mac, Audulus 4 is amazing. Far more sophisticated graphical patching then Axoloti.

Here I've listed some other platforms:

You can run Pd patches on the MOD devices too, btw

The original post inquires about things like axoloti, and and adds “ same kind of price range, just the board and connection ports”

#6

Maybe that Owl pedal thing? I even believe I saw someone port Axoloti to it.

The Electro-Smith Daisy is a similar project and in the same price range.

https://www.electro-smith.com/daisy

It has an active forum: https://forum.electro-smith.com/,
a C++ library: https://electro-smith.github.io/libDaisy/index.html,
a DSP library: https://electro-smith.github.io/DaisySP/index.html

It can also be programmed PureData and even Max.

You can try Bela.io it supports puredata, solid community and video lesson library on YouTube. They have multiple products to expand and extend as well as a Eurorack module

#9

The PicoADK board looks interesting as well.

Mono, no audio in, more expensive than Daisy Seed.

Looks like I decided to go with the bela mini. A little pricier but you know. We'll see how it goes. The daisy was a close second, but eventually chose the bela because of its focus on learning and the trill craft dohicky. very cool. Thanks for all the recommendations y'all! Learned a lot of stuff.

The Wingie mk2 can be programmed with Faust: https://github.com/mengqimusic/Wingie2
Though I'm afraid that despite the nice block diagrams you sometimes see, there's no visual editor for Faust.

hmm..
