It would be really helpful if someone could share the steps they go through operationally to code a new object with specifics like what software is being used and what are common references (code references and literature references).

I'm not sure if it answers my question 100%, but I realize I might not be asking the right question. I'll come back after I've digested that doc if I'm still having issues.
I'm having a great time with my Axoloti and I think it really adds an amazing amount of versatility in my set up. The first direction I'm going is working with rbrt's community stuff, perhaps attempting some customization there at the code level.
