Not getting M-audio Axiom49 aftertouch in patcher

#1

Im trying use aftertouch, I tried midi/in/touch didnt get anything. Axiom says its aftertouch cc is 131.

"Real" aftertouch, i.e. based on the MIDI spec, is not a CC, it's a separate MIDI message (actually, two different ones, depending on whether we're talking about channel aftertouch or polyphonic aftertouch; in general when we talk about aftertouch we mean the former as few keyboards had polyphonic aftertouch, but I've noticed lately that a couple of newer high end synths do have poly aftertouch), on the other hand CC 131 doesn't make sense as there are only 128 of them.

It sounds though that the Axiom can be reconfigured to transmit its aftertouch information in a variety of ways, so assuming "CC 131" means it sends an aftertouch message, it might be possible to reconfigure it to send a normal CC instead and use that in the Axoloti. Or perhaps "CC 131" means something else than an aftertouch message in which case it should be possible to reconfigure appropriately.

Looks like the "131" is just used internally in the axiom menu to select Aftertouch?

Anyway it has channel Aftertouch so you'll have to listen for whatever midi channel it is set up to.
Anyway2 I'd first set up a raw midi monitor object to see if any aftertouchy messages are even arriving from the Axiom.

Thanks! I'll try all this when I get back to my "lab".
