How did you connect the solenoids to axoloti ? Directly or is there some electronics in between ?

i guess it definitly needs something inbetween. i tried with several transistors. but they all went up in smoke. i finally bought something like this:

seems to be working well. the solenoids need 9 volt (theese ones)
