Hello,
A student of mine on Windows 10 did install a fresh axoloti, axoloti Runtime, as well as the recommended version of Java. The application launches. But when you want to open any patch, you get these java.lang.NullPointerException errors - see attached phone pic of the screen (!)
Would anybody with some Windows experience be able to help? Thanks!
java.lang.NullPointerException errors Windows 10
Check the factory and community libraries have been downloaded ... if they have redo it
The error is caused by not finding the Axoloti objects used by patch
I see, will try this. I will also ask him to check the Preferences, just saw the paths lie there. Thanks!
FWIW, it ended up working fine, after, among other things, hitting Reset All in the Preferences. Thanks.
I don't recommend clicking Reset All as it removes the factory demos and you have to repair the install by rerunning the msi to get them back. curiously it told me to close this chrome page as it was apparently locking some files the msi needed to access.
actually scratch that, I am still getting this now since clicking Reset All:
org.eclipse.jgit.errors.RepositoryNotFoundException: repository not found: C:\Users\urgent\Documents\axoloti\axoloti-factory
...
uninstalling and reinstalling fixed it,
that is incorrect, and a symptom of another issue you are having I suspect.
the demos, and factory libraries are completely separate from the installation (by design), such that the first time you run axoloti, it will download the factory libs (including demos)
if you have having an issue with reset all I think you need to work out why, perhaps a virus checker is creating false hits.
it is possible that AVG interfered with the first installation, but not the second, since I had already allowed it to be installed?
possibly, most anti-virus software has a application, that allows you to see what action it has taken, sometimes called quarantined… this also usually allows you to exclude certain directories.
