Is pin 2 of 5-pin MIDI out grounded?

#1

Thinking of using my Axoloti to control a Chase Bliss pedal via this cable, which requires that pin 2 of my MIDI controller be grounded.

#2

Pin 2 is usually the ground on a midi din connection, haven’t checked specifically but I would imagine axoloti follows that convention, if in doubt, ground is clearly marked on the the pcb at various points, just do a continuity test with a multimeter.

Yes, pin 2 of MIDI out is grounded. The schematic says so, and a careful look at the PCB confirms it.

Thanks for your help!

Indeed as per convention/midi standard, pin 2 of midi OUT is grounded, whereas pin 2 of midi IN is left floating. The reason AFAIK is that this creates a shielding for the midi cable and avoids ground loops.
