Instable parameters

#1

hello there,

with whatever patch ,my parameters are a bit jumpy, they don't stay at a certain value.

this is also with only one object ,the midi thrue, and nothing connected tot he boartd except usb cable ands a midi on the DIN ports.
the bpm is not at a steady value . this is not usable for me.
Is this normal?
I had this also when i used it as a synth but had many potmeters etc connected.
Hope it is fixable...

It doesn't sound normal, but honestly I'm not sure exactly your experiencing and when.
Can you post a very simple patch which demostates the issue.

Gpio are the only thing that will jitter , you need to filter these.

#3

for example in this patch. The bpm's in ableton are jumping around in de 10ths BPM.163.56 till 163.49 for example.
i want cubase to send the midi clock to ableton on another computer.the midi notes and cc's etc is working. the clock is not working and to put manually is not a big problem as long the BPM stay at one value :)

Ableton clock does jitter when it's externally clocked.

I get the same if I click it from my virus or spectralis.

Basically the issue is Ableton attempts to calculate the bpm and variations caused by midi transports - particularly USB which technically does not have guaranteed timing on most operating systems except when using isosyncronous packets, which is not use for class compliant midi.

Ahh okk I understand, that sucks ableton haha i will find a way around or make ableton the host.

i also never really got a clear answer ,with a lot of reading how to filter the gpio's in perfect. IS this with a smooth opbject by software or with ceramic capacitors? and what is recomennded values?
