Hardware constant re-start

#1

Hello,

From some days I am having some problems with Axoloti. It suddenly disconnect and re-start (red-green line).

"Control transfer failed: -4
Ping: WaitSync Timeout, disconnecting now

Other times it gives this other message:

I have tried with other usb cable but nothing change. Some idea?

Thanks in advance,

I have made the next trials:

  • Use empty patch = same result, so, the porblem is not the patch
  • Disconnect from USB and use power supply = no problem, so the porblem is related with USB conection

Any idea about how to solve this?

Not really a solution to the problem, but i try to power my axos via the external power input anyways to avoid digital ground loop noise which i get a lot when having USB connected. So i guess i'm saying maybe just keep the 9v connected and accept it.

Thanks for your suggestion weasel79. I gonna try.

Anyway, I would like to know the possible reason of this problem in order to solve it, so if someone have another idea I really appreciate.

#5

Ok. Know with the DC supply and the USB connected it does not stop but after a while Axoloti editor disconnect and say "Ping: WaitSync Timeout, disconnecting now"... Any idea?

#6

what happens when you power with an external usb-supply. for example a smartphone charger. does it still reboot?

#7

No crash with external usb-supply for 30 min

#8

that indicates somehow a patcher<-->axoloti problem or a problem with the usb port on your pc. i would try next with a patch stored on sdcard or flash and connected to the pc but not connected to the patcher. does it crash then?

#9

SD card + computer USB powered No crash...

#10

I had a similar problem a long time ago.

The problem was mechanical, that the USB connector did not fit solidly and sometimes the connection failed ...
Change the cable and verify that in the Axoloti application appears the voltage of +5v.

I have tried with another USB port and no crash at the moment, so it could be a USB computer hardware problem as you say.

Thank you very much

its probably the micro-usb socket as it hasnt been made to move.. Once I was making a wearable stuff in music-tech fest. and I noticed the crashes.. For a moment I thought that It could be the patch but Johannes himself was there too and he pointed me out the flimsy nature of microusb..

Thank you very much Servando. I guess that finally it had to do with the computer USB, I changed it to other port and everything was fine for some hours. But I will take care of the flimsy micro-usb.
