Grain / Shimmer Delay

#1

I started patching a shimmer delay using the pitch shifters of @SirSickSik:

It's really simple but the sounds you can get out of it a really nice, I will make some example tomorrow propably.

Further Ideas:
- Filtering in the feedback path
- Using even more delay reads with slightly different settings and pan them in the stereo field

Enjoy!

you don't need that extra delay module. the pitchshifter has that inbuild in itself, so this could save you some memory by just sending the audio into the pitchshifter.

Ah this is good to know thanks!

Do you know if there is any formula to calculate specific invervals with the combination of HZ and depth? Right know I am doing try and error but I you wanted to set it to specfic intervals that would come handy!

Edit:
Tried it out without the delay, makes the pitchshifting sound really lo fi with a lot digital artefacts. Quite interesting too but not really what I'm looking for.
Do I have this setup right?

oh ok, I hadn't noticed that yet.. good to know for my own projects!
I'll look into it, maybe it's better to just leave the recording part outside the pitchshifter module then..

That's a good Idea! For my application one delay write for several delay reads is completely sufficient.

One thing I also noticed is that some notes are shifted in a clean intervall while others are bit out of tune. Is this because some notes are closer or a harmonic of the Frequency at the Hz inlet? I compensated this by using several pitchshifters with different windosizes and hz settings.

For the rest it works really great! A version with pitch rather than Hz inlet would be nice though

I'll get into that later, at the moment I'm focussing on a "mystery oscillator" (see my contributions thread for link to demo)

I have been wondering now about the built in delay in the pitch shifter. It's there no matter what it seems. Maybe a future version with no delay? there is a short slap back present if you keep the pitch know at around 11-14 o clock.
But thanks for making this!!

almost there, I've uploaded a pitchshifter2 module, though the semitone minus calculation isn't right yet

Sick!........ And i med to fill in some space to be able to post this.

fixed the semitone bug of the pitchshifter! (as far as I can see now at least... when I came home this evening it suddenly responded totally differently from when I left home.... very weird)
