Electronic Txalaparta with Axoloti

#1

Hey,
When I first heard about Axoloti (at kickstarter) the first thing I thought was how perfect it was for my project, an electronic version of a basque traditional percussion instrument, the Txalaparta instrument.
After many tests I think I can say it is finally working fine and sounding great

The lights are neopixel strips controlled by a teensy that receives midi notes and cc from the Axoloti. The sound comes from the Axoloti, and the reverb is external (Boss RV-6)

Great work!
Are original txalaparta sampled sounds triggered by this pads?
It could be great to know more details about this proyect.
Thanks!

Hi @Spart!

The sound in this video is one sample of an ice txalaparta made by Oreka TX for the Nomadak movie, going through a Boss RV-6 reverb pedal.
You can see it here:

Inside the planks there are piezos connected to a drum module. This drum module generates the midi that goes to the Axoloti. The axoloti receives the notes and plays the sample going through a low pass filter whose cut frequency is determined by the velocity of the note, making it feel more natural. At the same time, the Axoloti sends these midi notes to a teensy that drives the led strips (neopixels).

I made a custom object for being able to choose the scale we play, controlled by three rotary switches (scale, base note, and octave).

If you want to know more just ask

Both of these projects are great!!

@TTotelka can you share that object? Sounds handy.
