Delay read-> outputs tics or samplerate

As i look at the code of delay write "menu" i think it should be possible to output the choosen delay time as ticks or samplerate.or sec
But how?
Also i found that the strings start with 8 wich is 256samples, so it should be possible to go even further down to 1,2,4,8..... sample, so maybe an input to choose the delaytime would be practical to.
