Connecting using stm32f4 newest firmware fails?

basically, i powered up my stm32f4discovery, flashed new (modded for stm32f4discovery) firmware, but now the axoloti software says this when i hit connect:

USB device found
connected
Cannot validate authenticity, no signature present.
Firmware version: 1.0.0.1, crc=0xA593D902, entrypoint=0x20011000
Ping: WaitSync Timeout, disconnecting now
Disconnect request

i'm running win8.1 by the way, if that helps finding the issue?

Did you compile the firmware after modding? Do the leds blink? Could you try holding the user button while powering up?

i did compile and upload the modded firmware in dfu mode as stated, leds do blink, user button had no result.

but what i found out just now is that i can get it to work by switching the usb in different ports? weird, but i got it to work! smiley

i can use it again smile
