Can't seem to save Inlets and Outlets in patch/patcher

#1

Seems simple enough,

  1. I added a patch/patcher
  2. Hit edit
  3. Went to inlets, added two inlets
  4. Went to outlets, added an outlet
  5. Closed the window
  6. Hit update in the patch/patcher node
  7. No inlets or outlets
  8. Opened the embedded patch properties window, all inlets and outlets are gone

Seems I've made some elementary error, but no idea what!

#2

Can you post your file so we can have a look?

#3

Sure, but theres not much to see here

I was wondering if I'm doing something very silly.

main.axp (3.3 KB)

I just want to learn how to make these sub patches, so I want to put my oscillator and adsr inside the patch and connect the midi in and audio out to inlets and outlets created on the patch.

#4

I've managed to crash Axoloti, clearly my semi sober fumbling has corrupted something somewhere.

#5

I'd better buy your book as clearly very simple things are hard to do.

#6

Looks like your subpatch was missing the inlet and outlet objects in the file you posted.

Best practice is also to put the midi/in/keyb object inside your subpatch so you can use it as a polyphonic synth voice.

#7

Good tip about the midi object.

Yes, I didn't know there were inlet and outlet objects, but that makes a lot of sense, I'll try that when I get some free time again.

Great, that's all fine, thanks for your help again.
