They look really nice, but what I do think is a bit lame is that ribbon cable to the top shell is never shown.
If you object to a design detail like that, solve it, not carefully position boxes so you don't see it. I think I would be quite annoyed if I would receive a product like that, and it had a bit of exposed ribbon on the outside of the box.
Think one could solve it inside the box, maybe it is not even that objectionable to have a rainbow ribbon inside near the hinges (or 3d print a cover), running it outside there's a risk of damaging it.

Really cool idea though, I like the look of the switches, like the old Cherry keyboards.
