Basic polyphonic synth - The Hera

#1

After building my first monophonic subtractive synth (Basic Subtractive Synth - Core Elements) this is the next step:

A basic polyphonic synth based quite closely on the Roland Juno 60. :love_you_gesture:

The patch includes the following features:

  • 4 voice polyphony (It's not optimized for RAM usage yet.)
  • mixable OSCs per voice: saw, pulse, square-sub (1 octave below), white noise
  • pulse OSC can be modulated by: manual adjustment, LFO, envelope
  • LFO: triangle with OSC-pitch, pulse-width & filter-pitch as modulation destinations
  • Filter: non-resonant HP followed by 4pole LP
  • LP-pitch can be modulated by LFO, envelope or inverted envelope
  • Key tracking amount of LP-pitch is adjustable
  • one ADSR envelope
  • FX: Chorus
  • Pitchbend: +- 1 octave
  • Midi CC#1 mapped to LP-pitch

I hope you'll enjoy it! And maybe you'll come up with suggestions for improvement! (I'll especially appreciate any tips on how to reduce the memory usage!)

Here is an updated version of the Hera-Synth:

I took the LFO section from the voice subpatch and put it into an embedded patch in the main patch, thus turning it into a global LFO since it makes no sense keeping a distinct LFO for each voice.

Also I changed the placement of the elements in the voice subpatch to optimize the signal flow to the processing (left to right, top to bottom).

Unfortunately the DSP load stays the same despite this changes...so it's still only 4-voice.
But the initial patch now sounds a little bit like the (in)famous Bladerunner-Sound.

In the next step I will try out what @brasso describes in this thread Polyphony Power User Tips

As Im usually reading this forum on a tablet sitting outside in the garden without the ability to try stuff instantly - do you happen to have a YouTube clip showing it off so I can hear what's going on..?
