Axoloti as MIDI & Audio multi-fx

#1

Hey!
The Axoloti in the video below is the following things:
MIDI thru unit (MIDI DIN in, out to USB and DIN out)
Audio processor: Distortion, high-pass filter, Sub-oscillator (sinewave) and Side-chain

The MPC 500 outputs MIDI to the Axoloti, forwarding the notes to the Sammich SID, output of which is fed back into the Axo. This can make the Sammich produce incredibly powerful Reece bass sounds with the abrasive distorted 6581 waveforms together with a clean sub.
Track 1 on the MPC is always a drum track with kick drum only, putputting MIDI on channel 10. The incoming MIDI notes on MIDI channel 10 are used as a side-chain trigger for the Sammich, and the pot sets the threshold value of the compressor.

I aimed for a Juke track with chiptune influences, enjoy!

Cool! very refreshing to see someone make this kind of music in a live setting. DJ Rashad would be proud of you

Nice beats, keep sharing your stuff.

My pleasure =)

By the way, Caustic is a great piece of software !

#7

Indeed! :3 its like bread n butter for me, especially since 3.2 introduced more sound tweaking possibilities.

The fact that any track can be sent to a modular synth is a great creative feature.
The vocoder is quite versatile too. Automation is a bliss.
To me, the issue with Caustic is latency.. well, i run it on a venerable Galaxy tab 2...

Yes i switched to iOS for pretty much only this reason when i got an iphone from work.
Its still very useful when used as a clock master tho, ive slaved a Volca to it and it runs solid as a rock.

very interesting this Caustic... on my radar now. A big thanks... never crossed my path before.
