I made an adaptation of @janvantomme enclosure to use with an axocontrol Kit, if anyone wants it, I uploaded the illustrator files here https://sebiik.github.io/community.axoloti.com.backup/t/axocontrol-enclosure/5514/5
Creating a new design for my axoloti. Had one axo for few years in a temporary enclosure, I've been letting ideas grow
Finally started the building phase few weeks ago:
This one is gonna be mainly drum machine with about 24 knobs for mixing and modifying the sounds.
I bought another axo few weeks ago, I think this kind of enclosure will be its new home as well. Its gonna be a noise/drone synth
Panels are copper. Next phase is lot of drilling and cutting the hole for the oled. After that some soldering and planning for the wiring.
Enclosure just about ready. Next potentiometer and oled attaching. Also need to make a bed for teensy and axo inside the enclosure.
Had to prototype the wiring of the pots few times to figure out a way simple enough. Still gonna have to route 24 signal wires to axolotis analog pins and teensy 3.6 pins.
Assembling and wiring:
Getting there!
very nice indeed! from the looks of it, ist this some foil cover you glued on wood? or is it the "real" deal?
it's a metal enclosure with wood panels. The graphics are made of water transfer tattoos. All in all the enclosure cost less than 25 €
That looks great. Where'd you get the metal enclosure (in case you didn't somehow forge it yourself )? Also, what's the big knob for?
I ordered it by one of those aluminium folding companies. It was pretty cheap ~15 Euros. The big knob is an encoder
Reminds me of my youth making guitar effects and marking up the panels with Letraset.
Makes me wonder if there is something like inkjet printable transfer paper.
Here's my AxiControl case. I 3d printed the corners - they have ridges inside which fit into engraved slots on the acrylic, so it all snaps together. i wanted to try an alternative to the bolts/slots approach.
If anyone's interested I can share the files.
As you can see my buttons are a bit low - they're OMRON ones (B3F-4055) so I suggest taller ones if you're making one of these. Still works fine though.
Did you do the cutouts yourself or also get them done by the same company? if so, which one was it if you don't mind sharing?
I made the cutouts. the "enclosure" was made by https://www.feld-eitorf.de
Pretty cheap ~20€ including shipping
