Add an octave up and/or down

#1

I thought it would be easy - but I constantly fail.

This is what I want to do:

Take the incoming midi signal (I use the midi/ctrl/mpe pitch/including pitch bend output) and shift it an octave up or down before sending it to another osc in my patch.

So far I tried to multiply it, add it to itself and others, but it never gives a safe solution.

Any suggestions. Would be great.

This works fine for me:

  • 12 for one octave up, +24 for two octaves up, -12 for one octave down, -24 for two octaves down. You can use jaffa's patch to generate multiples of 12 and add that number to your midi input

Thank you both. I knew it was an easy thing to do - now it seems so obvious!

So do you think this also works?
Depending on the pitch of the incoming signal the pitch is adjustable several octaves up or down (different usage: thus I can either play on the very left or right end of my keyboard and send it to the axoloti)

I needed this for my synth in the past and had written an object. I publish it on this occasion:

Made an object that shifts the incoming signal an octave up/down, inspired by the Ableton Live "Random" MIDI Effect.
