8x8 bi-color LED matrix

Just wondering if anyone has done anything using one of the LED matrices... like this:

Small 1.2" 8x8 Bi-Color (Red/Green) Square LED Matrix

I can see uses in a sequencer type application (or many others) and realize it would still need a driver chip but don’t know how to approach it. Easy enough with Arduino but how to have the Axo do the talking?
