16V 5W Power LEDs controlled with Axoloti

#1

Hi all!

So I recently found some cheap 5W LEDs and a fitting PSU in my local electronic shop.

Then i wanted to try and controll them with my axoloti, I had some patches from the previous smaller LED project and, well... who doesn't want to make the whole room flash in sync with some Oscillators .

So this is the basic circuit:

Where IN1-4 are just coming from 4 digital GPIO outputs of the Axoloti.
And it's working really well!

Resistors are 5W, beefy:

Soldered onto a board and screwed to the bottom of a box, hiding wires within.

You can see the axoloti to the right in another cigar box.

The LEDs I'm using, for now i just let them hang in the air, because they are flashing most of the time they don't really get too hot but I'm planning on putting them on a strip of aluminum.
Forward current: 300-350mA
Forward voltage: 12-13V
Typical voltage: 15-18V

My PSU is a Samsung SB_B221C, which gives you 1100mA @ 16-20,5V but I think basically anything close would work...

I think all in all i cost me about 15€
I'm sorry I can't provide a video but I will follow up shortly.

Cheers!
