Three controllers I've been using work to different degrees:

Korg nanoKontrol v1 - CC works fine, but no program change function and setting a button to be "Momentary" requires an on and off value which can result in a double value being sent out depending on how you are trying to use it.

Behringer X-Touch Mini - all works fine, program change functions work well but the Inc/+1 and Dec/-1 are mapped oddly by the editor software to be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc on Inc but 127, 126, 125, 124 on Dec. Currently no way to change this.

Evolution X-Session U17 (not pro) - CC works fine, program change function works well with the Inc/Dec function behaving in a more logical up and down fashion than the Behringer. Ancient controller editor software (Enigma) does not appear to work with any of the various PC's and Mac's I have laying around but easy enough to set up using the on board controls.

livid base I

working,including LED feedback and all.
BUT occasionally there are 'hanging notes' when playing the pads.

The pads are sending aftertouch or CC values when you hold them.
I've cross-checked this with the Max/Msp 'borax' - object , no hanging notes here.
I'll investigate some more...
it's possible that there's a BUG in the 'midi/kb/' objects,eventually the CC's are
overloading these.

BTW the 'base I' is on sale right now for less than 100 euro..

Linnstrument works fine with polychannel midi via DIN. Possible that some info is traveling too slow when lots of channels are selected for the poly mode.

USB polyphony has some issue and I will investigate.

#111

I had some good results by simply slowing down the data rate of the Linnstrument usb! I did notice an earlier thread posted here that mentioned issues even with a low data rate, but I didn't have issues.
Also can recommend to set the LI only to send the needed data or use a number of midi channels equal to your instrument polyphony.

#112

thats a really good point, that I forgot to mention... the reason is, my mpe implementation (and the poly expression) derive the voice idx from the midi channel, and I think by default the linnstrument rotates through channels (most of these controllers do this, though often its options... it allows release tails to ring out for as long as possible) .

as another option... rather than DIN which is slow, so requires thinned data, you can connect via the usb device port via a pc/raspberry pi. my experience of this, with the eigenharp/soundplane is this does not have the same speed restrictions as the usb host port appears to have.

@alexk, re throughput, see my update on this thread

Axoloti also works with the Casio GZ-5. No aftertouch or anything else very much, but that's pretty much all you get with the GZ-5 with anything.

#114

Has anyone had any luck with the APC 40? I haven't seen anything saying it doesn't work, but nothing proving it either. I'd love to pick up an Axoloti if it'd be compatible.

#115

not got one, but is it class compliant? if it is, then it should work , is it a Mk1 or Mk2 ?

the Mk2 states its USB Midi class compliant so should be fine.
the Mk1, a bit of searching, indicates it also is (albeit with a special handshake that apparently is only needed for Live), and Linux has no issues with it.

as of now, I think we have all USB midi class compliant devices working, with only 2 exceptions.
- one that had an internal USB hub, which we do not support.
- the Linnstrument, due to extreme volume of data, currently I'm awaiting feedback from owners if the 'low power' mode resolves this, as this was recommended by Linnstrument developer.

anyway, id give a good chance of working, as all looks ok, and other Akai devices are fine.

#116

It is the MK1. Thanks for the info. Seeing how many other Akai devices worked, i figured it would be ok too.

#117

Novation Bass Station 2 works via USB with no issues (with BS powered by its adapter) as a MIDI keyboard controller and some knobs sends CC (haven't figure out how to map the controls sending NRPN or two CC values yet)

Akai Midimix reported as working as of 1.0.10 see here

#120

Novation Remote 25 Audio / X-Station:
Doesn't work (not class-compliant).

Novation MiniNova:
Doesn't work. Appears not to be class-compliant, which is disappointing for a relatively new device.

M-Audio Trigger Finger (first version, not the 'Pro'):
Works, but doesn't send out MIDI note-off events, which might limit usefulness.

A few items I have tested and confirmed working (in no particular order):

Korg nanoKontrol2
Soulsby Synthesizers miniAtmegatron , this means..
Arduino MIDI/MOCO for LUFA (Arduni Uno MIDI hack)
Keith McMillen QuNeo
AKAI LPK25
iCON Cube Mi-3 (USB-Midi interface)
Waldorf Streichfett
Arturia Beatstep Pro (notable ground loop in my config, even with the supplied groundloop adaptor, did not try Axo DC power)
Novation LaunchpadPro
Elektron Analog Four
Dave Smith Intruments Tetra
Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard
Arturia MicroBrute

Livid Code Version 1 using version 1.276 editor software seems to work fine, Axoloti powers it fine and it just works

#126

arduino micro with usb midi (arcore) also works!
