Simple loop of an audio file

#1

Dear all,

how's the easiest way to loop an audio file loaded on the SD?
I just love to control start/stop with a button and let the file go.
I've taken a look at all the triggering functions in the timer category
but its seems that there isn't a simple "metro" object like in Max or PD
that could receive the length of the file as control input.

Any issue?
Thanks!

I'm trying something like this but it is not working at all, the patch does not compile and Axoloti get disconnected

#3

have you checked the help files/demos/tutorials?
Im sure there is an example in there....

IIRC, you just trigger start repeatedly... i.e. with a length equal to the time you want to loop.
(I do think it would be nice if this (and similar) objects had an 'end' trigger)

Yes, I've checked all the tutorial, there's a "drum sample" that is nice but it's not what I want because it implies a sequencer. Triggering "start" repeatedly is exactly what I'm looking for. At the moment I'm using the midi/in/clock object with "active" outlet connected to "start" but the patch sometimes works and sometimes is mute...can't figure out why.

that kind of looks reasonable, have you checked that the in/clock is actually firing reliably...

tests id do are... put a display on clock active, is it coming thru.
try with an lfo/square... does that work reliably

#7

I just made this version and it works on my Axoloti. First I also got the control 7 fail. Then I disconnect the Micro USB cable and connect again and then it works. Try it. You need a midi keyboard for it or else drop the VCAs and substitute the Keyboard with the square LFO. Should work.

Sampler tested and working.axp (2.7 KB)

Im getting the odd control 7 failure... which Ive not isolated yet, I think its something that was introduced later in dev cycle, as I wasn't getting it with the prototype board.
(its not very common, and as you say tends to be when you run a patch the first time)
its reported :

Cool.

I think I will try a SD card which is not SDHC. Another user said he had better experience with that.
Going to test if I get same result smile

#10

Is that probably the same issue I experience with playing back a SD-Card file? Sometimes it works, sometimes Axoloti just reboots. (Blinking LEDs)

It seems the soft-watchdog gets triggered (that's what the console window is telling me after I clicked on connect to reconnect) - for some reason it helps loading the "amon is broke" patch and than my patch. But you're saying you're not getting any watchdog messages - so mine is probably a different issue.
