Oscillator switch off to save CPU power - sleep mode?

#1

Hi , what happens if i use 3 Oscilators but only one is active with the MUX swich.
Does the other oscillators go to sleep mode ?? or uses the other oscillators CPU power in the background ?? Is it possible to set not used oscillators in a sleep mode ??
Example , i will have 3 oscillators , SAW,Square and Sin. Only one is on one time active.
What happens with the others if they are not connected via MUX switcht?

I prefer to keep the dsp load more or less constant, to avoid glitches when enabling stuff while playing.

In this case, I think the best solution 'd be a switchable waveform oscillator object.

I would love this too ; )

I think that this could be a game changer for creating a proper 3+ OSC subtractive synthesizer emulation, like i.e. the ubiquitous Minimoog (sorry for this example ^_^' )
Choose between the waveforms of each OSC generator could be awesome.
Currently if you wish a selection between a saw, ramp +/-, sine, square and noise, you have to charge the CPU with 6 running oscillators + a selection mixer.
With a switchable waveform OSC you can spare 5/6 of CPU power each generator!

For this project, for example http://www.synth-project.de/axcore.html it is almost impossible to obtain a decent polyphony with one axoloti only.

Also a swithcable custom wavetable OSC would be interesting.
