Mono / Stereo automatic input sensing/routing?

#1

I'm working on some effects on my Axoloti (still starting), and I was wondering if there's a way to make the audio inputs do a sort of auto sensing of mono/stereo?

So that I can switch routing automatically for my effect to be mono/stereo or stereo/stereo ?

Can't answer your question, but it's an interesting question, can't say I've ever come across a piece of hardaware that auto-senses it.

That said, just in case there happens to be no official way of doing it, I suppose that sending a boosted signal to a detection part of your patch would at least give you a crude way of detecting whether something was attached to that channel, simply through comparing boosted noise level between channels.

Not saying it would work, but as a crude work-around it just might!

Yes that could be an idea, or somehow measuring the difference in volume between the two channels.

There are many effects that have a left/mono or stereo automatic, it happens mechanically/electrically I believe, but a some sort of boosted input detector I suppose could do the trick!
