Filter scaling help

#1

Hi all,
back again,
Well I got my first Axoloti, I just have a question I hope someone can help me with, I've started building my first synth on it, and I'd like to know what to use to scale the keyboard for the filter, basically so that it sounds darker in the bass end and brighter in the high end, I've tried everything I can think of, but I must be missing something, can anyone help please.
regards
Sean

Hi Sean,

Is it keyboard tracking you are looking for? Depending on the midi note the cutoff frequency changes. If you search for keyboard tracking cutoff frequency you'll find some posts about it here in this forum.

I remember there's a post here where simply the note output of your keyboard object modulates the inlet (pitch, frequ or cutoff) of your filter, with a bit of simple math in between.

Good luck. Hope the axoloti gives you plenty of hours of fun!

Filters use the same tuning/scaling as the oscillators. Just feed whatever you're feeding your oscillator pitch into your filter pitch.

'Hours of fun?' think weeks/months lost to working on ideas  I'm currently saving up to get a couple more for other ideas I have
