so, i have a question. i need to soften a signal by say -6db or -20db, how do i do it with the vca object? assuming 0db is 64, what do i have to input for -6db or -20db? is vca linear? sorry if this is an obvious one...
Decibel into vca object

each 6dB down will be half of the volume.
so for -6dB, it would be 32.
for -12dB, 16
for -18dB, 8
etc
etc

thanks, yes i figured that much. i was just not sure the volume is handled linearly in axoloti dials. but i tried with some decibel values and a decibel to linear converter: http://www.mogami.com/e/cad/db.html and i think it is indeed linear
