Anyone planning to make and sell an enclosure?

#244

hey guys, i found a rather cheap 19" enclosure in the netherlands, i decided to order one, and ijust got it in.

might be usefull for multiple axoloti+control (arduino/teensy) in one enclosure.

the dimensions are: standard 19" wide, 2 unit (88mm) high, 180mm deep (a axoloti core fits nicely in the depth of the enclosure!)

it is made 1mm sheet metal and an aluminium front panel of about 2mm thickness and comes with vent holes, some integrated mounting holes and screws.

ideal for a DIY RAXoloti (Axoloti RACK mount)

the price is even better: just €25,50 for one enclosure (including tax, no shipment)

the link to the enclosure: http://www.vandijkenelektronica.eu/index.php?id_product=622&controller=product&id_lang=2 (dutch website)

just thought i'd share this source with you all

Seems like this topic has warped into a gallery 4 nice axoloti-housings. This is very nice to collect inspiration and spare time in using and developing others ideas what I did. Mine now has 5 faders 3 buttons 2 switches and a distance sensor and will be used as a stereo-effect unit for organ and piano sounds plus a theremin option.

After I breathed a little live into her (Squeezer is female in teutonic) starting to be quite satisfied...

Wow, lot's of great enclosures and ideas here.

Here is my shoebox enclosure for my first Axoloti based psyché-synth

Dropbox file not found, please re upload. Thank you, If you want for me to do it sent me an email to gufzzz@gmail.com and I will do the rest. Thanks!

I'll try to find them and reupload, I think they may have been lost unfortunately, but it's possible I still have them on an external drive.

The tolerances are pretty tight for hand cutting/drilling, so you'll probably end up having to do some touch up work. I used a drill press and even with that I ended up having to do a lot of filing. Laser cut or CNC would definitely be preferable.

A 16mm hole saw or stepper bit would be nice to have for the job.

I have founded a lot of old vintage broadcast cassettes. So I used one for temporary enclosure.
I forgot the DC input...

Gaffa tape and cardboard. Very classy.

I like it, looks Punk..

This is my axo enclosure. I designed and built it with my friend who is furniture designer. I think it came out nice and minimalistic. Im planning to add some leds knobs and buttons on top. Any thoughts?

I hope I manage to get the electronic soldering stuff done without problems. I don't have much experience on that.

Also what im a bit worried about is that how can I attach the buttons and knobs to the enclosure since Its kind of cramped. Do you guys think its can be done  ?

It fitted! Four knobs, four buttons, ir sensor and five leds with 3 colors. It was pretty tight to fit and i had to use few tricks and force it a little bit which was scary. But now everything is working. Next is some serious patching. Im gonna try to make everything multifunctional. Ideas?

Hey, WOW, theres a ton of different cases and models presented here... I actually just recently procured a Core board, as well as the Music Thing Modular Control...

so are there any examples of cases made for this specific marriage, or am I going to end up using this old VHS case and keeping my fingers crossed anytime it needs to leave my studio?

#255

Someone did put a case around the axo control and post it - sorry can't find it now

But I use axo control without a case, since it already protects the top and bottom of the board, fine most of the time - though I wouldn't chuck it in a rucksack, without a box.

Here's the case / instrument I built.

#257

Wow.. !
Are the wooden hex's buttons ?
If so can you show how you assembled them to the electronics, I want to do something similar for footswitches, but have no idea how best to achieve it..

#258

Yes, the five on the left are stuck atop fsrs with a small bit of double sided foam tape. The 11 on the right are just painted with capacitive paint and are routed to a bare conductive touch board (could also just use mpr121). The screws on the right half are hooked up to a separate mpr121 for use as buttons as well. Might not be great as a pedal, unless you play barefoot

#259

Capacitive Paint, cool idea, you are right, won't work for me.
Back to the drawing board........

case from a broken XBox 360 power supply

#262

That looks really nice. Did you repurpose a case or was this one custom made?

#263

It's a case from a broken XBox 360 power supply
It's a tight fit but almost made for the Axo... I simply had to shift a couple of the Axo mounting holes about 2mm and they lined up... and I have room to add switches and knobs topside if I like.

#264

12 knobs, 6 switches and 2leds. 2cv ins and 2 outs (0-5 volts). I'm really pleased with this great little instrument.
